YOUTH YOGIS, grades 6-8

Thursdays, 3:45-5:00 p.m. at Beaver Valley Community School, Thornbury

(meet at pit)

*pre register only*

This 75 minute class is more mature in format and content.  It provides modified versions of Kundalini yoga exercises done by adults.  Beginning at the student’s level, these provide increasing individual challenge and improved flexibility and strength.  Breathing exercises provide techniques for releasing tension, improving circulation, and enhancing concentration for clearer decision making and knowledge recall.  Relaxation and guided stillness/meditation exercises, and discussions about how yoga works in the body, provide further strategies for making optimal use of the yoga tool box in everyday situations.

Non-slip mats are required for this class.  Students should also bring a light peanut-free snack and water bottle to our pit meeting place after school, to re-energize and rehydrate before yoga class.  Comfortable, stretchy clothes are essential, as are bare feet.
